WASHINGTON, D.C., September 16, 2026: Future Force today named Willie L. Phillips Jr., the former chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), as Board Chair. The company also named Amos Snead President of Positive Current, the independent energy media platform that launches this week.
Phillips led FERC during a pivotal period for the American energy sector, as electricity demand began rising again after nearly two decades of relatively flat growth. During his tenure as chairman, FERC adopted major reforms addressing transmission planning and generation interconnection.
He previously chaired the District of Columbia Public Service Commission and served as assistant general counsel at the North American Electric Reliability Corporation. He is a partner at Holland & Knight, practicing in the firm's Washington and Birmingham offices.
"We are in one of the most consequential periods in the history of American energy policy. Demand is growing, infrastructure is being built at a scale we haven't seen in a generation, and maintaining reliability and affordability will require talent. Future Force is about developing the next generation of workers and leaders, and making sure people can see the opportunities this industry has to offer. Positive Current is how we tell that story," said Phillips.
Amos Snead named President of Positive Current

Snead will run Positive Current day to day. Utilities are planning the largest infrastructure buildout in a generation, driven by data center demand, domestic manufacturing and electrification. Positive Current reports how the grid works, what the tradeoffs are, and who is getting hired.
"Energy is the biggest business story in the country and almost nobody is telling it to people who are not already inside the industry," Snead said. "Utilities are hiring linemen, welders, engineers and technicians by the thousands. Positive Current puts that work in front of a wider audience, reports it straight, and names the tradeoffs that come with it."
Snead brings more than two decades at the intersection of energy, policy and media. He is the founder and chief executive of The DUX Group, a Washington strategic communications firm that advises leaders in energy, and he continues in that role. He previously served as spokesman for House Majority Whip Roy Blunt and worked on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. He is co-author of Climbing the Hill, published by Penguin Random House, and chaired the executive committee of the National Press Foundation, the only non-practicing journalist to hold that role.
